ITINERARY

Explore the home of the all white ‘Spirit Bear’ on this unique Canada vacation package. Keeping your eyes keen and cameras ready for bears and wolves you'll experience the mystery of the estuaries of Fiordland Provincial Park. With a local Gita'at Guide learn about their native culture while exploring the native village of Old Heartley Bay and searching the shoreline for pictoglyphs.

The Great Bear Rainforest comprises of islands and intricate waterways beneath towering mountains. The lush, coastal temperate forests are alive with eagles, ravens, salmon, bears and wolves. Experience amazing sights from wildlife to ten thousand year old native cultures on vacations in Canada

Take the opportunity to adventure along these waterways, inside the forest, seek for wildlife, meet native guides and learn why the Great Bear Rainforest is one of the last gems on the Pacific Coast.

Sample Itinerary - (Note that all trip itineraries are kept flexible to take advantage of wildlife sightings, weather, tides and the interests of the group)

Day 1
– Participants will meet at the top of the Municipal Dock on the Bella Bella waterfront where you will set off on your journey at approx 11:30am.

Day 2-3 – Head deep into the coastal mountains where you will focus the next two days on the Fiordland Conservancy. Kynoch Inlet has some spectacular rock faces and waterfalls. Explore remote estuaries and expect to see bears attracted by the spawning salmon or feeding on the sedge grasses in the estuaries. You may visit the native village of Klemtu to see the new longhouse, recently built for the local community.

Days 4-7 – Travel along the shore of Princess Royal Island – the best known area for seeing the rare Spirit or Kermode bears. These bears are actually black bears with a recessive gene that makes about ten percent of the bears in this area all-white. Khutze Inlet has a beautiful river valley, an abundance of bird life and you often see bears along the shore. Spend a day with local Tshimshian guides who will take you to their favourite wildlife viewing areas or show you their ancient sites and intriguing art. In Whale Channel expect to see humpback whales and will take the time to observe these amazing 15 metre long creatures.

Day 8 – Arrive in Bella Bella late morning. Participants can catch the Pacific Coastal late afternoon flight back to Vancouver.
