Churchill Polar Bear Express 5 Days / 4 Nights

The trip was just amazing. I travelled with the oldest and youngest participants - husband 82 and grandson 10 - and both enjoyed it and took between the two of them about 400 photographs. The guide, staff and all the people looking after us were knowledgeable, friendly and fun to be with. It was a success.

On this safari you sleep in the Tundra Buggy Lodge, surrounded by bears. The lodge is a specially-built huddle of Buggies, made very warm and comfortable. On the lodge you have more time to see the bears' social and family life. But walking outside is not recommended! Awww... So cuddly! But just look at those claws… You also get more of an immersion into the fascinating human life in the Arctic.

Summary

This package is perfect for those with an adventurous spirit but time and budget constraints. Stay outside the town of Churchill at the Tundra Buggy Lodge, where you are around the polar bears day and night. With a slightly larger group, a multi-talented staff member acts as your Buggy driver and host at the Tundra Buggy Lodge.

Although you are visiting the area primarily for a Churchill polar bear tour, there are other attractions too— the historic gun batteries of Cape Merry, the Port of Churchill, which is Canada’s only Arctic grain terminal, and the wrecked hull of the ore ship “Ithaca.” In town, visit Parks Canada’s displays of Churchill’s early days. The Eskimo Museum is a wonderful place, renowned for its outstanding collection of historic and contemporary Inuit artwork. You will also find a wide variety of art to look at or buy—including Inuit carvings, paintings, prints, moose hair tufting, and other items with a distinctive northern flavour.
