Detailed Itinerary

YOUR ITINERARY

Day 1 - Your Cycling Vacation Package Begins - Arrive in Quebec City
Step off your flight and into a little bit of Europe in North America! With its city walls, cobbled streets, and centuries-old buildings, Quebec City has Old-World charm and New-World energy. A guided city tour helps you get your bearings and shows you the fascinating highlights.

Afterwards, get your Canada vacation off to the perfect start by relaxing in a sidewalk bistro and sampling some of the signature French food and wine that is a feature of this great little getaway.

Day 2 - Quebec City to L’Islet This afternoon you leave the city awith a transfer to L’Islet, near the gateway to Bas-Saint-Laurant. Introducstions and bike familirization follows dinner.Overnight in L’Islet.

Day 3- L’Islet or La Pocatiere to Kamouraska (about 50km, 31 miles)
Pick up your bike and ride along quiet country roads to St.Pacôme, the first of several villages you pass through that have been recognized as among Québec’s ‘25 Most Beautiful Villages’. Continue along the St. Lawrence River to Kamouraska, famous for its medieval festival and the archipelago off its shores. The water retreats so far at low tide that some of the islands can be reached on foot - so if you venture over there try not to get caught by the rising tide! Overnight in Kamouraska.

Day 4 - Continue to Notre-Dame-du-Portage (About 48km - 30 miles)
Leave Kamouraska today for some coast and country riding, as you wind your way along what is now the estuary of the St. Lawrence. We suggest a stop for lunch at ‘Les Battures Ecologiques’, with a spectacular view of the Laurentian Mountains. Then, if you are in a fit state after your lovely French lunch and wine, continue with an afternoon ride to your overnight stop, Notre-Dame-du-Portage - another village noted for its beauty. Breakfast & dinner included in your package.

Day 5 - Notre-Dame-du-Portage to Ile Verte (About 40 km - 25 miles + options)
Embrace history and culture on vacations in Canada! Today’s ride takes you to the picturesque village of Cacouna, whose name derives from an Indian word for “land of the porcupine’’. Along the coast, you may catch sight of the whales frequently seen offshore, and even better viewing is sometimes rewarded as you cross the ferry to Ille Verte, an island of 45 inhabitants. The island is renowed for it’s salt marsh lamb. Tonight you will stay in the oldest lighthouse keeper's residence in the province.

Day 6 - Ile Verte to Trois Pistoles (55 km - 35miles + options)
Take the ferry back to the mainland and cycle to Trois-Pistoles, marked by the tall steeple of the enormous church of Notre Dame-des-Neiges. Cycle the green forest paths to see waterfalls. Stop at the government wharf to in a view of the Ile Aux Basques before continuing on to your accommodation for the night in Trois-Pistoles.

Day 7 - Trois Pistoles to Le Bic
(About 60 km -38 miles)
Enjoy cycling a little inland to explore the Basque Highlands, followed by a stop to buy some local delicacies and at a lookout where wild falcons are frequently seen flying from the cliffs. Then cycle to the village of Bic, and, if you are feeling energetic, try some of the miles of biking trails in Le Bic Provincial Park. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 8 - Le Bic & return to Quebec City
You have the morning to explore the lovely terrain around Le Bic, or take a trip to Reford Gardens - before an afternoon transfer back to Quebec City.

This evening, perhaps, you enjoy a final dinner in a French bistro and reflect on the highlights of your healthy, fun and deeply satisfying ride through French villages in the Fall colors of Canada. Overnight in Quebec City. Breakfast included.

Day 9 - Depart Quebec City
This morning, alas, much too soon your cycling Canada vacation package comes to an end.
