A Spectacular Journey by Train in Canada or Alaska

Many Canada Vacations involve taking the VIA Rail train across the Rockies
One thing that visitors to Canada often find a little hard to grasp is the sheer vastness of the land and the difficulty of getting to much of it.

Which is why travelling by train here makes so much sense. You can relax and see something of the second largest country in the world, and get to places inaccessible by road – a beautiful mosaic of lakes, rivers, mountains and prairies ….
In some ways, a train journey in Canada is a little like a cruise – while you travel vast distances you can enjoy fine dining, read a book, catch up with friends and family, play a game, stroll to the viewing platform, or just stare out of the window. Only instead of seeing only sea, on a rail trip some of the most spectacular scenery in the world is rolling past your window…

And there are a lot of options with a train journey. You may choose to use the national rail system, called Via Rail, or one of the rail companies specifically for vacationers – Rocky Mountaineer, the most famous, or the more niche Royal Canadian Pacific and the steam train operator GW Travel.

At Fresh Tracks we have specialists in Canada’s trains so we can help you choose the right route, the right class of service, the right hotels and the right activities to try along the way. For whilst the train is an enjoyable way to travel – it is still just the beginning.

Once you get to a destination we help you make the most of your time there….
