About this experience |
Canada and Alaska are wonderful places to hike – especially if you have an experienced guide to get you into those places you might not go if you were on your own.
You can, of course, hike in the woods and alpine meadows of Canada or Alaska on your own - and we encourage you to do that, if you are quite experienced at dealing with North American wildlife.
But if you prefer to have someone to guide you, we offer a range of hiking vacations from easy to challenging – and if these are not your cup of tea we can arrange guided day hikes on any trip going to the mountains...
For hiking vacations, the most exciting option perhaps is to do heli-hiking, where you take a helicopter up into the alpine meadows from where you can do just as much or as little as you like. Your guides will ask you what you are up for and provide the appropriate level of challenge to suit you - so we have many parties where three generations of a family will go along. Alternatively, you can hike very cheaply in our hut-to-hut hikes in Wells Gray Park or our backpacking trips in the Rockies. And in many of our multi-sports trips hiking is also a feature – for example, in Wells Gray you can do a great trip that is three days hiking and three days canoeing.
For those who crave something more challenging, we offer the West Coast Trail on the west coast of Vancouver Island, and – the ultimate – a backpacking trip on Ellesmere Island in High Arctic….
So no excuses – get your hiking boots on!
